How not to go crazy when life veers off the rails
The twists and turns of life will sometimes take you places you do not wish to venture. My husband’s recent diagnosis with a debilitating condition has left me feeling bewildered and viewing the future through a new lens.
This series of photographs captures luminous portals that reveal themselves to me mirroring my emotional journey. I am drawn to translate these ambiguous feelings into images imbued with moody light and shadow.
The use of film is essential to me as the interval between the taking of the photograph and seeing the image provides a space, which allows me to rediscover these images with a fresh perspective.
There is a catharsis to making this work and capturing these emotive moments in time, reflecting my current state of mind. It explores my ongoing feelings of loss, fear, and uncertainty, revealing the mysterious beauty that can be found in the shadows of the life experience.
